Bill Whitelaw, president and CEO of JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group, began his involvement with the publishing industry in the 1960s selling the St. John’s Evening Telegram while living in Goose Bay, Labrador. Having worked as a reporter, editor-in-chief, and publisher, he brings over 30 years of experience in the newspaper and business-to-business media sectors to the company. Since joining JWN in 2002, Bill has been responsible for expanding the company’s product portfolio and developing new frontiers within the industry, while also ensuring JWN remains progressive and people-focused. He has a Print Journalism diploma from Loyalist College, a B.A. from Queen’s University, and a Master of Communication Studies from the University of Calgary. Bill is also a director on many community boards, including the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame, Canadian Business Press, Vertigo Theatre, Alberta Global Forum, and Telus World of Science (External Relations Committee).

Agnes Zalewski is the group publisher of JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group. Overseeing editorial, creative, and marketing efforts for a large selection of JWN publications, Agnes makes sure the magazines and directories of the company are produced “just so.” She has an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. Prior to joining JWN in 2006, Agnes was the inaugural editor-in-chief of Alberta Oil Magazine and brings to the team diverse management experience with such corporations as Canadian Airlines, Air Canada, and Syncrude. Agnes is currently the vice-president of the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association, as well as sitting on the board of the CIBC Run for the Cure.
   
   

Gord Lindenberg, Director of Digital Strategies

Initially working with JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group as a consultant, Gord Lindenberg joined the company as IS Director in 2004. Since then, he has headed up the company’s information services while helping guide the overall business operations and strategy as a member of the senior management team. He has a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba and an M.B.A. from Athabasca University. In addition to working in positions ranging from applications developer to network specialist, Gord also has 13 years of marketing and sales experience with hardware and software companies such as Amdahl, Oracle, and Ariba. He is actively involved with the Edmonton Executive Association as a current board member. Gord is married with three grown children, and as an active outdoorsman enjoys mountain hiking, snowboarding, and golfing.
   
   

Rob Pentney, Sales Director

As sales director of JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group, Rob Pentney leads a team of 27 sales professionals in finding new ways to achieve customer satisfaction. Since joining JWN in 2007, Rob has been instrumental in enhancing the company’s advertising and marketing efforts, including developing new multimedia products and services for the oil and gas and construction markets. He has a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and brings a wealth of sales knowledge to the company from past experiences as senior account executive at geoLOGIC Systems and part-time sales and marketing instructor at Mount Royal University. His work at JWN continues a life-long involvement with the oil and gas industry that began in 1981 with Home Oil. Rob is the proud father of two children and enjoys competing in Olympic-distance triathlons.

In 1979, Doreen McArthur joined JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group after several years working in business development for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and she hasn’t looked back since. As office manager and directory publisher, Doreen has many roles in the company, including product development, sales, and administration. She holds a business diploma from Hollingshead Business College and is a certified production accountant. In her spare time, Doreen is an active member of the Calgary community, having volunteered with the Stampede Parade Committee for over 18 years now, as well as working with the Catholic Immigration Society. Over the past 25 years, she has managed the organization and promotion of scholarships awarded in connection with both the Canadian and American Energy Industry Person of the Year awards, given out annually by the Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs. Doreen is married with two children and two grandchildren.

Stephen Marsters joined JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group in 1997 as a reporter for the Daily Oil Bulletin. He took over as editor for New Technology Magazine the following year, eventually becoming publisher of NTM and editorial director for the JWN set of products. He has a B.Sc. in Geology and Biology from Dalhousie University, an M.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo, and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario. In 2007, he was honoured when NTM received a Silver Award for Best Issue at the prestigious Kenneth R. Wilson Awards. An avid reader of magazines of all genres, Stephen also enjoys cooking and running.
   
   

George Gurba, Controller

As controller, George Gurba, CMA, is responsible for all of the finances within JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group. Prior to joining JWN in 2006, George worked for five years as an assistant controller with Diversified Transportation and 11 years as a controller with the Edmonton Recycling Society. For the past three years, he has served on the board of the Mill Woods Recreational Volleyball Society, currently as treasurer. An enthusiastic community volunteer, George has played a key role in organizing the building of outdoor rinks in both the Delton and Kilkenny communities in Edmonton. He also coaches a midget hockey team and manages a peewee team. George is the father of three and husband of one.
